Mayans predicted that the world would come to an end in 2012, maybe they were off the mark by a couple of centuries, if there is anything who can kill / wipe us — it’s us !

I remember growing up in Rajkot as a kid and waiting in our garden for my school bus to arrive. I would see a long line of parrots, neatly decked on the electrical wires, If I were to count them on my fingers, I wouldn’t be able to do so because there were so many of them. Not only parrots, the mornings used to be like that meditative music tracks that we listen to on our smart phones — it used to be there every morning, free of cost, live in front of me. Those mornings used to have ‘fog’ in winters and not ‘smog’ — when they taught me ‘smog’ in schools I used to wonder how smog would look like and today we’ve plenty of smog in each city of our country.

For us, pollution and environmental studies is just a boring subject in school and college. I remember dozing off while reading those badly written text books about various kinds of pollution — they were so boring that I would rather prefer to stare at the wall. Now we are in a situation where we are beyond repair in my opinion. We are compulsive users of plastic , just look around your home and you will realize that there way too much plastic; now multiply this with 120 crore people and just think where are we going to dump this ? If data on internet is doubling each year, so is plastic !

Isn’t it shameful that our leaders are still having a doubt whether climate change is real or not. Summers have become hotter, winters have become chillier and it rains whenever some one throws a dice In heaven and gets a 6. No matter how many times authorities try to bring about a change, we follow our convenience and start using plastic post one week of ban. We can not imagine to stop using plastic completely but we can surely reduce the usage of something which is bound to cause discomfort to the generations to come

Do your bit, take that cloth bag to do your grocery shopping when you got out next time.
